Amitabh Bachchan to release Sameer’s biography

Amitabh Bachchan will release lyricist Sameer’s biography on 28th October at a glittering function being planned at Bhaidas Hall in Bombay. The day also happens to be Sameer’s father, lyricist late Anjaan’s 75th birth anniversary. This year also very significant for Sameer – he has completed 25 years as lyrics writer and already crossed 500 films as lyricist .

1. Release of biography, titled Sameer – A Way With Words, authored by eminent writer Shri Derek Bose, at the hands of Amitabh Bachchan at Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle (West), on 28th October 2006.

2. The function will be attended by leading film stars and personalities, including producers, directors, music composers and singers who have collaborated with Sameer over the past quarter-century.

3. A three-hour musical programme showcasing Sameer’s repertoire in various genres of film music will be presented on the occasion. Prominent playback artistes and Sa Re Ga Ma winners, such as Bela Shende and Abhijeet Ghoshal will render the songs on stage in the presence of a live audience and all dignitaries.

4. A double CD pack of hit songs portraying the versatility and lyrical range of Sameer’s work will also be released on the occasion. Over the past 25 years, Sameer has penned the lyrics of a record 500-plus films, besides songs for scores of non-film albums. The only lyricist ahead of Sameer is the late Anand Bakshi, who wrote for 622 films during his tenure of 45 years.

5. The book release function coincides with 75th birth anniversary of Sameer’s father, the late Anjaan. The occasion is also meant to pay tribute to the memory of this great lyricist and his glorious contribution towards the enrichment of Hindi film music.
